Dr. Debra G Kenward

I grew up and received my primary and secondary education in North Miami, Florida. Upon graduation from North Miami High in 1973, I attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in 1977 and a Doctor of Medicine in 1981 from the University of Florida College of Medicine. My four-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology was completed at Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1985. As a senior resident, I held the position of Administrative Chief Resident and had the honor of being selected as outstanding Chief Resident.

I have been board certified in obstetrics and gynecology since 1988 and am a Fellow in the American College of OB/GYN (ACOG). I began my private practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology in South Miami in 1985, limiting my practice to gynecology in 2000. In total, I have been practicing a little over 30 years in the South Miami community.

I am married to my husband of 35 years, Dr. Scott Kenward and we have two delightful children, Andrew and Katie. I am fortunate to have been able to enjoy both a full-time practice in OB/GYN and a very fulfilling and rewarding family life.

Through my practice, my family and my community, I have made great friends and enjoy all the wonderful things that South Florida has to offer. My favorite activities are travelling, being on the water, cooking and spending time with friends and family.

From my residency and through my many years of practice, I have developed anexpertise in all aspects of gynecological care. From birth control to hormone replacement, I can help patients with hormonal issues – relating to the reproductive ages, perimenopause and menopause. I have a particular interest and expertise in solving vulvar and vaginal problems. I enjoy helping patients in all aspects of gynecology, as patients’ life and health issues change throughout the years.

Throughout the years, I have enjoyed educating the community in different aspects of gynecology. I have been a guest speaker on many occasions, speaking to high school students about health, lifestyle, birth control and sexually transmitted diseases and am privileged to be a Mentor in the mentor and scholarship organization, Women of Tomorrow. I have spoken to postmenopausal women about hormone therapy and bioidentical hormones and to gynecologists and primary care physicians concerning the use of antidepressants in the primary care setting. I feel that educating and informing patients of their options regarding health issues and preventative strategies is the first step in helping them attain their goal to be healthy, both physically and emotionally.
